Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had removed this display that is located on the roof above the rear view mirror. I want to get in to hard wire a radar detector but can not figure out how to remove it. I dont see any screws and I popped the light covers off to see if there might be screws hidden under them but there were not. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!!

The manual doesn't seem to show how it's done. I seem to recall that it just pulls off but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe HomerWinzlow will have a better answer. I'm sure he'll show up here soon

 

Some are just clipped into place, and some have a single screw up at the front of the housing, seen from the outside of the shell (near the windsheld). Some late models have a two piece design and the shell comes off separately from the mount body which the compass is mounted into. Just be carefull to take your time and not break it or the drop down doors which are fragile. 02 and older Expeditions have a single screw inside one of the drop down doors.
