been sitting; tar like varnish in fuel tank. need to clean.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea on how to clean the tar like substance that used to be gasoline out of my gas tank. I bought a 87 bronco that has been sitting for about 3 years (at least that was the last time it was registered) and the gas that sat in the tank, varnished, and ruined the in-tank fuel pump.
I was able to siphon out what I could, but at the very bottom of the tank where the pump sock (or strainer) is sitting; the goop is settled, and it is getting all over the strainer. I don’t wont it to get into the pump, because that is what ruined it in the first place.
Is there any additive or chemicals that I could use to dissolve it.
Thanks for any help,
Justin Hunter
