Axle was marked as 02 F250, but diff tag was missing. I'm going to rebuild, re-gear and add ELD. I will pull an axle and confirm 35 spline count. Thx SuperDutyScaler, I appreciate your input.
I forget what year the f350 went to 37 spline, maybe 2011? So you'll need the f250 eld with 35spline and then I believe a hole for the wire harness....or it might use the tone ring hole again I'm not 100% on what was stated on this site when a few guys did that swap
One thing you need to think about is how you will activate the electric diff. The new housings will have something in them to accommodate the electrical connection that an old housing may not have. If you go with something like an ARB air locker or an OX locker (manual, air, or electronic actuated), I believe they all use a special diff cover to allow access for the activation. Using a factory ELD may require drilling the axle housing or getting creative with the diff cover.
Yeah, good point. I figured that maybe a hole in the cover with a really tight grommet (to maintain seal) might work. If and when I get to that point, I'll probably post again for pics and ideas from members who have done this upgrade.
