Struggling With Mirrors While Towing
#16
Yeah, we all seem to have different expectations and uses.
My trailer is 102" wide. I don't have any issues. I don't need to see the end of the trailer except when backing and then a small turn of the wheel and I can see it just fine.
I too like the convex portion. I use it constantly to see where traffic is around me. Sunday I towed around the DC Beltway. I spend nearly as much time monitoring in the convex portion of the mirror as I do looking ahead.

Everyone here talks crap about the Ram tow mirrors, but they are far superior in almost every way, compared to the ones on the SD. They gave a better view of the back of the trailer because they stuck out a bit more. SD needs another 3" of telescope, IMO. It is my biggest gripe about this truck.

They are so bad, that the Cummins Forum has 2 rather lengthy threads on how to adapt GM tow mirrors to a Ram.

My Suites is 40' long/102" wide. Have no problems with the mirrors when towing, just can't see what is directly behind. To see if someone is tailgating me, I just move to right a bit and pull back to left--gives a good enough view to see anything but a Smart car sitting right behind...trailer cam is on my list of to-get.

My toy hauler is a bumper pull but every time I tow it I wish that the mirrors extended out 1" further. I can't see the tires on the trailer, not even the wheel wells.
It would also be helpful if when extending the tow mirrors the top mirror would angle in a couple degrees. The when bringing them back in from full telescope angle the top mirror back out the same amount.
