Here comes the STRANGE!!!! Coil Sprung F250 4x4 Diesel Build
I have a friend from another group that has a 1990 2wd Extended Cab Diesel F250... He wants to make it 4x4 and has a donor truck that we can rob most of the driveline from.
Here is my question.... I know the Bronco was a coil sprung IFS 4x4. Can the Front axle Assembly (Assuming it is a Dana 44) from the Bronco Be blown apart and then take an 8 lug Dana 44HD(IFS) from an F250 4x4 Be blown apart and the 2 Combined to build an 8 lug COIL SPRUNG IFS Dana 44 that we can slide under his truck?
He is INSISTING on Keeping the coil sprung setup in the 1990 F250 Plus I think it would be a fun build.....something a little different...
LINK TO THIS POST HAS BEEN POSTED OVER ON THE BIG BRONCO LIST AS WELL

The way to do this is use GM 8 lug D44 parts, the D44HD parts don't fit. Bronco guys have documented this thoroughly. https://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum...-pictures.html and for more reading: https://www.google.com/search?q=8+lu...hrome&ie=UTF-8

Remember I am building an F250 Diesel not a bronco...
There has got to be more than 1 option to do this.... I am looking for Ideas here guys.....
Could the 44HD be modified to accept the Radius arms and then not have to mess around with all of the other??? if this is possible we can also use his Dana 50 from the donor truck.
Like I said looking for Ideas here... the Completed truck will be a 1990 Ext Cab F250 4x4 with a TTB Coil Spung front end.
I am sill working on the cross member and pivot mounts too

I don't really have much insight on this but I assume it may be possible. I know you're not going this route, but to make a bronco with the coil sprung dana 44 be 8 lugs, it seems the easiest way is to take the GM 8 lug parts and mix and match rather than to try and adapt an F250 dana 50 TTB axle to go under it.
The F-250s twin traction beam setup was mounted with leaf springs, so either way, I believe you're going to have to fabricated and weld up new mounts to accept the coil spring setup weather you manage to modify a dana 50 TTB (what the 90s F250s had) or take a bronco dana 44 and modify it to be an 8 lug setup.

Why not use a D44 out of a half ton, 8 lug convert it, and put that in? You can use the D50 third member, and the passenger side inner most shaft with the larger U-joint and receiving slip shaft. Spicer 5-760X u-joints on the D44 shafts. Chromoly D44 shafts are available as well, though that isn't exactly cheap. The housing can be trussed/gussetted if you're concerned with strength to support the diesel. The mystery for me is the pivot points on a 2x4 F250: are they the same as a 4x4 F250 (for the short D44HD & D50 TTB beams) or are they the same as a 4x4 F150/Bronco (for the longer D44 TTB beams)? If the same as the F150 4x4, seems like an easy choice to me. If not, adapting coils & radius arms onto the D50 beams might make the most sense. The longer D44 beams are more equipped for a long travel setup, but that's likely irrelevant for the diesel? I don't know, just throwing out ideas. I'd check out Pirate4x4 and FSB forums, might find more info there, or someone on here might be able to set you up with how they did it.

I don't get why the Chevy 8-lug conversion is a no-go for you just because the documentation is for a Bronco? It's gonna be the same for your F-250 AFAIK.
You either have to take a D44 TTB and convert it to 8-lug or you have to do some fabrication and make the coil spring mounts and radius arm mounts fit your D50.

So the TTB you have is what? D50 and 44hd share the same geometry, while using different wheel bearings, and therefore, different hubs. D50 uses d60 lockouts and bearings whereas the d44hd used d44 lockouts and the outer wheel bearing. On the inner wheel bearing, they used the d60.
the simplest way to convert a d44 to 8 lug is with Chevy parts. The other route is way more complicated, and needs parts from all three TTBs and machining.
D44sd was the only one with coils.
another route is to get a d50 TTB and go that route. It's not as flexy, but stronger than the d44. Then convert to coils and radius arms.
