1991 Custom Inline 6 F150 Tow Capacity
I just closed on 30 acres of property in the middle of the woods and things are lining up to seem like I may be doing some towing with my truck. Considering buying an RV while my home is being built and eventually getting a horse trailer as well. Problem is I have no idea the max weight I can do for either of these. I've read a lot depends on the axle rating, transmission and tires, not just the stated weight numbers. The rv will be parked on the property for the most part though the driveway will have newly installed gravel with an approximate 10% slope, 550' long.

Welcome to FTE.
This says 5600 lbs.

The tires are a good upgrade but your rear axle GAWR stays the same.

Using my 85 f150 in stock form, 300 np435 (granny gear 4 speed) and 3.55 gears to tow another 84f150 on a 2200lb trailer over a long distance and many hills, I'll weigh in on what I think.
The 300 will pull whatever you want. Not fast but it will. Be sure your automatic can handle the weight without overheating. After about 6k lb at 65mph you will have trouble keeping the trailer in you're lane. As you add more weight you'll need to slow down.
if you don't care about milage disregard this, but id recommended for highway cruising rpm
2000 ~ 4000lb
2500 ~ 6000lb
3000 ~ 8000lb
Some of fords tow ratings are ridiculous. I have some charts claiming a manual 300 and 2.47 gears has a GCWR of 5450 (can't even handle itself with the families camping gear in the back) but a 7.5 and c6 auto with 4.10 gears can handle 18.5k lb GCWR. Ton of nonsense to me. Seems like incentives for people to buy upgrades.
Again my opinion. Others may disagree but that's me.
