forscan adapter

I am getting ready to start using forscan to update my truck to tow mirrors. When looking for the elm327 adapter there are several which have Modified, modified FTDI, FTDI and I cant tell which one I am supposed to get. I know on the Bluetooth versions I need the MX type and I know I need the switch. I want a USB one. Ive read most of the other forscan threads but I don't remember anyone addressing the Modified FTDI chip. Can anyone set me straight on this. I don't know. Maybe its in the other threads and I just missed it. Need it for a PC windows 64 bit,

I thought they made it perfectly clear on the Forscan thread which to buy? If not I 'm sure they will help you there.

+1 on the ELM unit. I've been using it on my 2017 F150 for the last 18 months and it works perfectly. About 34 bucks on Amazon.

They didn't say much about the USB adapters. Just that I needed one with HS/MS can elm327 with a switch. Should be the MX type. they made recommendations of a lot of bluetooth and wireless types. But when it came to the FTDI chip being modified or not modified and if it would work with windows there really wasn't anything . they also mentioned avoiding some Chinese models that wont work. Looking on Ebay most everyone had something touting the FTDI chip. Perfectly clear, no. just clear enough to cause me to not jump on the first unit on ebay. I know the FTDI chip allows a faster download and thats it. I wound up going with the model recommended from amazon this morning.. Yes I live in the US Storage_man. Thanks for the recommendation.
