Sold my 03 6.0 time to upgrade-questions concerning a 6.7PSD
I recently sold my 03 6.0PSD, Now I will be in the market for a newer truck, 6.7PSD, 6.7 Cummins, or a 6.6 Duramax
I really like the looks of the newer 2011+ superdutys....I am finding a bunch of 2011/2012s for sale is there a reason for this? I plan on owning the truck i purchase for a minimum of 5 years. Do the 6.7s need the egr's deleted & the emission systems in the exhaust deleted to maintain reliability?
I am also seeing them range from 50K-180K id really like to stay around 100K miles or less.
Any info would be great

Generally build dates of model year 2011 before 4/1 should be avoided due to an exhaust valve/seat issue. Here were improvements in 2013, then again in 2015, so used prices jump along those lines. Again, generally speaking emissions aren’t too bad to live with, but with the improvements there were less problems. If you choose to delete there are lots of options, but it’s not required.

Originally the earlier 6.7 did have EGT sensor problems. But Ford reprogramed the computer with a wider parameter and I have not heard about EGT sensors much since for anybody who had the reprogram done.
The sensors are a $30 part (there are 4 of the) and #2 and #4 seemed to cause the most problems. (Like shutting the truck down in an intersection) They are in an exhaust pipe, So they seem to sieze and can be hard to remove without some heat to break them loose.
I ran 150,000 on my 2011 and replaced, Brakes, Batteries, front hubs, Steering Stablizer, Water and Oil connectors on Turbo and two EGT sensors. I don't think of that truck as having a lot of maintenance issues.
You are probably seeing a lot of those years because the warranty has expired and the previous owners prefer to own vehicles under warranty.

Just remember that what you see here is a small sample size of the overall reliability of the 6.7PS. People tend to post when they have a problem. There are shortcomings of all modern diesel engines as the manufacturers try to meet federal emissions guidelines. I'm not exactly sure what year Ford switched from ceramic bearings in the turbos to steel bearings, it was either 2013 or 2014 but if you plan on joining the 100,000+ mile club you might want to look into that. The other 2 common issues seem to be radiators leaking and the cold side intercooler hose blowing. I haven't messed with the radiator yet but did proactively replace my cold side intercooler pipe with a Mishi. Again, keep the "sample size" in mind. there are 100s of thousands of 6.7s out there.

Thanks for the input.
I spoke with the dealer today, and they didn’t seem like the typical mom and pop dealer-not pushy or obnoxious like a few other places I’ve talked to.they said they tuned and deleted it and have records for what was done to the truck.
I really like how clean the frame is here in CT that’s almost impossible to find
guess ill have to keep looking
