After you are done with tightening the injector hold downs please mark them so we can see if they stretch or loosen (assuming you are back in some time down the road)

Interesting idea. I haven't put the VCs back on yet. Heading out to work in a few mins. I'll be back about 4am. If I can still remember after I get up, I'll see about marking the hold down bolts.

Right now she is all "mosquito fogger mode" when I first give throttle, LOL. Of course CAC tubes are off too, so no turbo pushing.

I really hope this is the problem...

Hate to sound like the voice of doom, but are you sure that washer didn't distort your cup? That would suck to find out you got a tiny rip in that thing halfway thru your trip......

Hey Camper...when/if you remember, check out the hold down bolts and verify if the bolts aligned, can draw a straight line from bolt to bolt with no interference...thanks

Well, daughter and I snuck some time today to put the Excursion back together. Have to work the air out of the system, but pretty certain one or more injectors are still leaking through.

Lots of BLUE smoke, black when heavy foot, and goes all Rumble-strip on my at about 1400rpms.

Nothing more to do on my end. I'll run her through Labor Day gently and only as needed. Maybe something will clear out of an injector? Long shot, but after that I will pull them all and send them back to be fixed.

I remember being so TIMID when I first went under the hood. Pulling valve covers seemed so intimidating....

After the 38th time, the mountain ain't so high! LOL.

But I am committed to getting her fixed, she needs to be in service. That or I will start walking as the wife starts her new part time job Monday. LOL.

When I say "Rough running" I mean...video

Just to qualify the term "rough running" when referring to my injector problems.

It's a Bond truck - shaken, not stirred.

Bond on Mars LOL. But that is 1500 to 2100 RPM. Sadly.

If it'a an injector I would expect a CCT to reveal something. Does it idle smoothly when at temp? Does it vibrate like that at higher RPMs (you said 1400?) when in neutral / park? If you leave the valve covers off you could trying bringing up the idle with one injector unplugged at a time?

Thanks for the questions.

It idles rough, but not this rough, at all temps.

It's like lugging a standard up hill. It smooths out a lot with higher rpms.

It does not change with transmission shifts, though it mimics a tc that won't disengage at a stop light (the kind of stuttering, that is).

I have found a distinct lack of correlation with trans shifting and behavior. I checked specifically.

I haven't rigged up AIH fooler or anything yet, so still can't run CCT.

As soon as I get the ABS sensor fixed on the car and get it inspected, the injectors are coming out and going back. They just aren't right.

That should be Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

Not really anything else I can do at this point

You've definitely got at least one not firing correctly there. I'd say multiple due to how furious it shakes. Reminds me of when I forgot to plug in a whole bank on mine when I first did the injectors. She ran, but wasn't the happiest.

Been there, done that! LOL. I even have a post and video somewhere

Do I have a wiring problem now? Well, here's what I did to check recently

1. Replaced both UVCH. No change

2. Replaced IPR and ICP with new OEM. They were and still are reading in normal ranges with TP under various conditions

3. Replaced/repaired IPR harness connector (it was skinned and looked rough). I soldered and shrink wrapped. Electronics level repair

4. Before pulling all the injectors this time, I pulled the 42-pin connector and Ohm'd ALL the injectors, which includes the solenoid, 42-pin truck-side connector, UVCH, injector harness plugs

5. I've used both Tony Wildman and Cody base tunes, specifically for my truck and 160/80. They are a little different and I don't try to switch between them live (read that again, it is a specific caution), but they both have the same rough 'miss' results.

I did NOT Ohm after putting them all back in, so there is a *chance* but the running is slightly improved (remember the extra copper washer in #8) but overall the symptoms are the same.

Is it possible? Of course.

But one constant remains. The injectors have NEVER performed properly since I got them. I am still subscribing to "something got in them" though it seems less and less likely. All the fuel and oil go through good filters.

In any case, they are going back this week (if we don't melt into a puddle here in PA this week, LOL) to be gone over. I am going to insist they are all rechecked. A YEAR is a long time to be without a vehicle.

I have confidence in the builder and am not looking to place any blame or point fingers. All I know is the injectors "ain't right" and they will be when they return.

I hope the next guy can find some tidbits to use in my troubleshooting and avoid some of my woes.

In the meantime, you guys were there when she was running good and you have certainly been encouraging (especially a few offering to come help!) when she is down. My sincerest thanks for all the encouragement and support. I hope we get the chance to laugh about all this afterwards as we "remember when your Excursion ran like crap"
