Getting ready to pull truck bed, having hard time finding someone in town to do some metal repair for me. Kicking myself for not learning myself.
Need lower bed front repair at bottom and two front small bed pans in front of wheel wells.

I would think that 18 gauge and just cold rolled steel would be adequate.

I have a ‘57 8 foot style side and need to replace the bottom as well... P.O. riveted some type of sheet steel right over the horrible bed... I’d like to replace it with wood.. is there a long bed kit or a DIY formula for doing that? I’d really like to replace the bed with an 8’ flair side... had a line on one that is a trailer in AZ but can’t get away at a time seller is available ... 10 hr drive... ugh..

Mine was beat also. What I did was I got a sheet of aluminum checker plate and put that in. Then in each corner I cut the pieces for each corner. Looks very good.

That is where I was headed also, before taking this road. My dad is 82 and owned the truck for 57 years he has been working very hard on the truck so I have let him have his say when it comes to decision making. This is the route he said he would rather do, that is dear old dad grinding above
