1992 E350 chassis motorhome

So, we’re finally moving out of The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Packed up the motorhome and left headed to North Carolina, everything went as smooth as could be until Cumberland county Tennessee. Going up a grade and the transmission downshifted to a gear that didn’t sound or feel like it was there. Almost as though it went into neutral, but not quite, there’s a little something there. From a stop, on flat ground it moves forward extremely s-l-o-w-l-y, and will build speed as long as I don’t give it enough accelerator that it down shifts. Its gotta be the transmission, or exhaust. Hoping and praying for the latter! Does anybody know a good mechanic in the area. 3.5 hours from our final destination...F-N MISERABLE!

Check Colonial Automotive 778 South Willow Ave, Cookeville, TN 931-526-8127. They were very helpful to us with our wheelchair conversion van.

Is the o/d light flashing? Did you check the fluid level? Did you get a check engine light?

The O/D light didn’t flash, the fluid levels are perfect, the engine light was on for a minute but then went off, and hasn’t come back on.

thanks for the heads up about colonial. We went by there but they don’t have a big enough facility to handle it. They recommend the place that we ended up taking it to though.

What did the trans fluid look like? Those hills aren't that bad that I'd think you'd burn up a transmission if the fluid level was good. I'd bet on electronics. My sons explorer is doing about the same thing. Funny thing is I can push the o/d button and get it to shift fine except for overdrive. At speed (3rd gear) I can hit the button and then I have OD but if I hit it sooner its like a put it in neutral. Is crazy.

Let us know what they find.

We ended up at Don’s Truck Service. Don seems like a stand up guy.

BTW, not exactly sure yet, but it looks like it’s gonna be a clogged catalytic converter. I’ll keep posted as I learn more.
