Royal Purple products

So I about to try these items in our 2014 F150. Anyone have any experience with the Max clean, Atomizer , Purple Ice or the intake valve cleaner?

Also considering whether or not to use this in our 2015 Lincoln MKC or 2003 Grand Marquis.

I’m interested in real feedback as well, as I’ve always thought of additives and like products as snake oil

We will see. Our F150 is the 3.5 eco so I think it may help with keeping the valves clean.

One of the items is the max blast intake valve cleaner. Directions call for a warm engine, then disconnect the air cleaner intake so you spray downstream of all the sensors.

For this to work it says to run the motor while spraying to clean those valves.

I have used some of these things in the past to clean the throttle bodies and they did well, but nothing for the intake valves.

Honestly their injector cleaner is on par with techron concentrate. If you want a true concentrated product get redline SI-1 compare the MSDS and you will see.

Interesting thoughts on the injector cleaner. I am going to try it and see how it does, but will look at the redline for comparison.

I personally would not run any valve cleaner in the ecoboost motor. There have been warnings from Ford not to due this. Damage may occur.

That is a consideration. Haven't though too much about it yet.

I think the Fuel Injection cleaner would be safe though.

On a direct injection motor you need to use an intake vacuum line and a product specifically designed for valve cleaning (like CRC products). I think you spray it in with short bursts until the can is empty...allow the engine to sit for a while....then go for a drive. Anything added to the tank won't hit the valves. As for turbo risks, I have no idea about that.

There is still no Ford approved procedure for cleaning these deposits. Likewise there have few if any issues related to valve deposits.

My neighbor let some hack do a walnut induction cleaning on his 2012 truck. Nothing but problems came after that. He ended up selling the truck.

I for now only plan on the fuel treatment with this motor.

I have no idea about Royal Purple products specifically, never used them. But once per year when I'm going to take a long trip I'll add some Seafoam or Star Tron, etc. to the tank at fill up and run it way down so I don't dilute it with another fill up. I have no idea if it actually helps but it seems to do no harm so why not? I also believe in moderation- once per yr is fine for me. I see no need to add over and over, our gas simply isn't that bad.

We are going to try the fuel injection cleaner as soon as the wife fills it up. I am hoping that it will help some.

Something you can do that does work is to use Top Tier gasoline. You're pissing in the wind using fuel that leaves deposits then later trying to remove the deposits with questionable products.
