56 Ford 750 COE Big Job Cab Over

I have the opportunity to purchase a 56 COE truck and the VIN plate is missing. The truck has a title but it isn't decoding correctly for a 750 based on my limited knowledge.
Can anyone tell me if there might be an area on the frame similar to a 56 f100 that the serial number might be stamped on the frame?
Thanks,
Callhull

Isn't there a stamping on the passenger side upper firewall? I would check the frame spot too.

All 3 of my 56s (2 COEs, 1 F100) have the number stamped on the right top frame rail near the front cab mount. Its there and sometimes is faintly stamped.

GJCAT,
I am in the middle of trying to buy a 56 COE. We found the serial number on the frame and it matches the sellers title. Only thing is the COE aluminum tag is missing and the truck is a few states for me to inspect. I called Mid Fifty about getting a tag reproduced and they told me they haven't ever had a request for 1956 COE tag. You mentioned you had three trucks
I have an F100,F350 and trying to buy this COE ( IS THE COE TAG IN THE SAME DOOR LOCATION AS YOUR 100 AND 350?) Is the COE tag in the same location as your F100? Would appreciate your help as time permits!
Thanks,
Callhull

I looked at mine and the door jam tag is the same as all other 56 models. Just buy one for a F100. The COE
comes into play with numbers and letter stamping.

Callhull, Yes the tag is in the same location as the F100 on the left door post. As far as what Midfifty said about the tag I asked them about 6 yrs ago and the gal that was in charge of those at the time, said she didn`t see any problem getting one repopped. I removed the one on the coe that I had the paper work for and put it away some place and can`t find it now. I have the info but can`t remember what the 2 spd axle ratio was. I do know the owners son told me that they could run the interstate at 70 with no problem, but when they used it in the hayfields it was too fast in low low to pickup the bales by hand. I do know that they changed the 4 spd to a 5 spd OD when they swapped the Yblock to a 390 merc. hence the faster road speed.

Good for you. You'll probably do more cruising on the interstate than picking up bales in the field!

GJCAT,
OK on location on door tag of The C750 being the same location as F100. I should of been more clear in my post. Mid Fifty said they could make up a plate. Once I get the truck home I will go about posting some pics to try and determine some of the items in question like rear leaf springs for the correct GVW and the type of transmission.
Thanks,
Callhull

Callhull. I have the original dealer hand book for all the 56 models. The C750 shows 2 rear spring packs. 13 leaf & 14 leaf and anywhere from 12,485 lbs to 14,645 lbs payload. I can figure it out with more info, such as wheel type, air brakes, tire size, wheelbase and equipment. Abe did you see our hay fields, look more like grapes to me!

750 COE

GJCAT
once I get the truck in my possession I will forward pics to determine what the truck started life as.
Is there any sales literature on the 56 Big Jobs that provided what options were available for this truck?
As an example the truck has a factory tach and a radio. I would imagine these were options.
Thanks
Callhull

I do have some literature put away, I see if I can find it to see if options are listed. Does yours have the cast spoke hubs or the steel disc type? That's an indictor of weight rating.
