Nope, five and six spoke Dayton and Webb wheels can be found on all class 8 trucks, I think Truckdog will agree. Your C-750 would be a class 7 truck. The cast spoke wheels can be finicky to mount and run true, and have been known to slip if not torqued correctly.

OK guys the front wheels have 6 large nuts that attach to threaded rods held in place by what appears to be a large cast washer. It appears to be a two piece wheel. I will get the leaf springs counted and revert back.
Thanks,

What plans do you have for the '56?

I believe that truck had been for sale on/off for a couple years... I believe I drooled over that one when I was first looking for a COE...

I really like the '56... one year cab.

Hoping the best for you and your new project!

That truck is a beast. Lots of potential there. I guess you know that there is a lug nut and clamp missing on the left front wheel.

Bob,
The existing wheels are rollers only. We are starting another 56 F- 350 project before we can get to restoring this truck. But have some interesting ideas on the Big Job! Stay tuned.

Brian,

First thought is putting the cab over on a 2000 Thru ? F 550 OR F650 Cab and chassis long wheelbase with a Caterpillar or Cummins.

The body on this truck is incredible for being 62 years young and worthy of a special build.

Thanks

BE STILL MY HEART! Nice score!

I think you might find the 650/750 front track width to be a bit much for the original dog house width.
450/550 is what I'm narrowing in on for mine - but wishing for more GVWR...

Maybe the perfect platform: 2000s E-550 with 7.3L
maybe more rare than the '56 you've scored!

JML,
You bring up a good point I will go about measuring the original dog house width and compare it to a number of newer platforms. I am trying to accomplish the same idea you shared with a heavier GVWR to utilize the trucks capacity.
Thanks

I'm not sure, but I've heard rumors of people keeping them in safe deposit boxes.............. Same for that OEM air pressure gauge.

I know where one is, in a 55 F700 parked in an old man's front yard. About 16 years ago I was able to buy the stock radio from him after some wrangling and an increase in my offer a couple of times. At that time he said he didn't want to sell any parts because he might get the truck running and do some logging.

I stopped there this spring. I was interested in some more parts. The truck is still there in the same spot but the house is empty. Fortunately his son has the same name and lives nearby. He would not sell me anything and I understand that. The old man lives with his daughter . I spoke to him on the phone eventually but he did not want to sell anything. So I'll keep checking in yet not too often as to be a nuisance.

I noticed this tach is different. Is that because it is in a 55 or because it is not Ford?
