Sounds like you got one that someone took care of the right way. What's with the dirty Audi on the trailer? Race car?

That is my fiance's first car. It jumped time 5 years ago and has been sitting at her dads house ever since. He told us we could have it so I went to get it! I dont think it has any engine damage, it still turns over freely, just runs like it's out of time lol. I'm gonna use it for a daily to save some money and keep some miles off of the truck

I drive 1 hour each way to work every day. It would be great on the wallet to save some money with the little 1.8t for a bit. I'm not sure exactly how many miles it has. I think about 100k. It was overdue for the timing belt service...

I would have to agree with BBslider. Old diesel don’t like to sit. Newer ones like to sit even less. I would make sure and keep her running as much as possible.

She will still run every day. Itll just mean my woman taking it on a 15 minute drive to work instead of me taking it an hour.

I gotcha. With your tuner I would tell her to make sure you get the oil up to temp in the 15 min drive before shutdown or you will be building up moisture in the oil and it will not be getting hot enough to burn off.

Yup, that hour of driving will do it a whole lot better, but at least the 15 minutes will help as long as it gets up to temp.

I forgot I had a trailer a couple times. Definitely no shortage of power!

Dirty spare!
I certainly wish I had checked the pressure in the spare prior to the trip but it's good now.

the coolant never went over 197 degrees, the oil temp never went over 207, and the egt never went over 1000. I have to say, I'm impressed with this truck a lot. Much smoother and quieter and more powerful than my 7.3
What part of Ky are you located? I'm in the N/Ky area. Close to Alexandria, Ky.

Injector Gave up the Ghost

Well my Thanksgiving was spent stressing about the truck. I started her up and she was smoking, then started running rough. Turned it off instantly and pulled the codes. Got a cylinder 2 contribution and misfire codes. Today I pulled the old injector and replaced it and tomorrow we will see what she does. I have my fingers crossed it isnt worse than an injector. I've read the horror stories...

side note, does the mini maxx hide codes or will they still set a cel?

While the valve cover was off... Did you check for a bent push rod on that cylinder?

No sir. I'm guessing I should have though... lol. It didnt have any running problems other than the occasional running rich as Indictated by the extra smoke and strong raw diesel smell one time. I shut it down immediately and pulled the codes. I was worried about a melted cylinder, but the injector came out looking super clean and not coked, melted, scorched or anything of the sort that would indicate it got hot. I have read lots of horror stories about 2 and 8 but I'm hoping for the best. All the valve train components looked good and nothing was loose or missing but I didnt pull any pushrods

just to clarify, the occasional smoking was 3 times in 2 days, not predictable, completely random and would go away after a few seconds. The 3rd time it didnt go away and smelled like raw diesel so I shut it down quick.
