Flareside tailgate hinge/tail light configuration

I have a 66 that was completely taken apart when i got it. I put the tailgate hing and tail light together as i thought it was correct. I have the channel bumper. The parts book does not give a clear picture of how they go together. I bought a 68 Flareside this past weekend for the bumper and brackets and noticed a different configuration than what i have. Anyone know what is correct? The orange pictures are of my truck. I have taken pictures of opposite sides of each truck, but the mounting configuration is the same. The red rusty mess is the parts truck. Thanks

My 65 has 3 holes
The middle of the 3 holds the bottom of light bar on back and the top of the hinge on front
I dont see why your setup would not work though

On my 65 Flareside the tail-light and tail-gate brackets are mounted together and my initial thought is because of the barton bumper support bracket however, and although I found it difficult to determine from the diag in the Ford truck Master Catalog appears to be mounted the same way. Looking forward to member's input. If time permits I will attempt to fire up the scanner and post diag. Personally I like the appearance of the way U have the taillight mounted.

and taillight bracket are mounted from the front using the same 2 holes.

curious if there may have been options
i am rebuilding mine and as mentioned it has 3 holes on each side
I ordered bolt kit with long acorn nuts from NPD and the kit has 6 bolts, so assumed it was 3 on each
