You have to wonder what is so appealing about a dark, greasy, awful smelling place like the valve chest, but it seems to be one of their favorite spots.

Abe, it would have run for a little while.. The longer it ran the worse things would have become. We'll just give it a thorough cleaning and go from there. It just need to go until my "good" engine is done.

You guys are beating me to the Rat Rod jokes...I'm too slow on this lately.

Imagine the mouse's shock if it was in there when he fired it up. But this thing would have had to have sat for a while for something to build a nest in there. And were the manifolds off for some time? They won't go in the engine if it's used regularly, and I doubt they'd go in through the exhaust pipe and build this kind of nest.

Do you have a date that video was taken? I'm inclined to think it's an older video.

The video is while it was still mounted in the old Hot Rod it came in ('31 Chevy coupe). We ran it on an engine stand the day I bought it.. Seller is a straight shooter, offered to buy it back. I didn't pay much for it, so I'll take my chances...

The video was about 6 months ago, but we ran it the day I got it on an engine stand... I think it was stored without the fuel pump installed or the hole plugged until he got it.. he said HE put a old fuel pump on it..

As noted, these things will run under the strangest conditions! You got it open anyway, so go for the cleanout and rebuild. Should be good to go! I have no doubt the seller assumed all was well in there aside from needing some freshening up.
