I know for an absolute fact mine doesn't have those. I am going to look for a shoulder bolt that will allow it to pivot, yet still be solid. I am thinking that may be what is causing my binding at the hood hinge on the side. Not sure, but I will give it a shot.
The 53 through 56 have that shoulder bolt. I have made them myself by grinding down a nut to round and the size of the hole then threading it onto a regular bolt but that was when I needed hood on and had no real parts availible at the time.
The 48-52 doesn’t use a shoulder bolt. It’s a 3/8 small bolt drilled for safety wire. The arms ride on the hood pivot and held on with a flat washer, lockwasher, and then bolt. I tried to take a pic of mine but it was dark👎. The installation is detailed on page 315 in the manual.
The hood arm itself has play in the cowl holes for adjustment as well as play in the front catch plate. Getting all that just right is key to cooperative hood corners👍
