Met a friend for breakfast and we were going to head down to a local lake to kayak......a storm came through and we went a few miles (him following me) show i could show him the launch area for next time.. He got into my truck at the lake so we could chat......it was pouring and was fogging up so i started the truck to put on the climate control. I looked down and my tack was off, nothing lit, no response from sync 3 or dials at all. I got wipers to work only on high setting.....no headlights, turn signals etc.......was only a couple miles from our campsite so i took off. got back, started the truck and got headlights, no high beam or turn signals and sync 3 could be changed to usb playing but no dials would work. I should note that the dials were lit up (lariat).
Pulled ground off battery for about a half hour and all works again......i did have my kayak in the back and the tonnou cover was open, but the 7 way pin connector in bed was closed.....thoughts??????
If it’s still under warranty and still happening, take a video of it and take it to the dealer. The video is in case everything works ok when you get to the dealer.
Thanks, did do a short video showing driving and no dash anything.....weird that pulling the ground off the battery and letting it sit for about a half hour and when i reinstalled the battery everything was back to working....that is why i was double checking.....i did read somewhere of connector issues....i could not find it under "searching" the threads.....must have not had the correct wording. Thanks.
Drove home in some pouring rain and hit some crazy deep puddles. Parked truck and about an hour later went out to start and everything worked. Only difference between these 2 events was my cover was open on 1st issue because of kayak in the back.....fluke? I do have an appt. at Ford next Friday to look at harness.
can someone post a link to other harness water glitches. I originally tried to search before I asked, must not have put in the correct search words.....
My service rep hooked me up with a Master Tech to go over issue. My build date is just a few weeks after the tsb. He used my vin to get wiring schematic and checked all connections around the rear. The connector so many have shown to have been corroded is beside my spare as you can see by the picture. No moisture or corrosion present, but he put in dialectric grease anyway. The connector is right below my tailgate and bed area and when i had the problem my tonnau cover was open.....ran through some real heavy rains since and puddles with cover closed and no issues. Just thought i would share my update. truck has been fine......
