Concerns of saftey

I have a 86 F350 crew cab 4x4 with 6-8" lift sits on 37" tires. I have a NorthStar 10.5XL slide in camper. Camper weights in close to 3000Lb. Do you think it would still be safe to haul the camper with the truck being lifted?

My original truck went down 91 F350 crew cab 4x4. I decided to do a restoration and customization to this truck so I bought the 86. Didn't think much about hauling the camper at that point and time.

Thanks

That's a significant rise in the center of gravity. At the very least, I would think that air bags and a rear sway bar would be helpful.

On my 2017 F-350 that camper would just about use up every pound of my cargo capacity.

Will the camper jacks even extend far enough to load / unload?

Most of us TC folk try to have the CoG as low (and as far forward) as possible. The camper is a popup, right? That makes it less bad, but still... How does your truck handle unloaded? How stable does it ride? What is the max. load on those 37" wheels? Will they carry the camper weight?

If all of the above checks out, try it. Take it for a gentle ride on some back roads and see how it does. Come back and report, I am curious ;-)

My 91 sits on 35's but doesn't have a suspension lift. When I first got the camper it was quite an adventure... Truck wasn't set up correctly and never hauled one before and of course one nastiest storms I had to drive through to get home. Once I got home I did some more research and put some timbrens on it. Much Much better control.
As for if the jacks they do extend high enough, had to put it on the 86 to move it to a different location in the driveway. I'll try to post a picture later.
This camper is not a pop up It's a big solid one!

If anyone is interested in purchasing this camper feel free to contact. Make a good deal! has 2 issues one of the electric jacks doesn't work have to do it manually. There is slight water damage and will need repaired.

I'll let you know how it rides on the truck when I take it to trade it in on a pull behind. Me and the wife went looking and took the plunge to purchase a new one. We find out Tues or Wed if we're approved.

Mind if I ask where the water damage is on that Northstar? I have a 2017 Northstar Arrow and of course I am interested to know where to look early on.
The jack that doesn't work... In all likelyhood, the motor is seized. These HJ motors tend to get wet, corrode, and seize. Mounting a new motor is simple but not cheap...
