New fuel injectors, how much time?
Hi friends. I'm driving a 94 E150 van with a 302 and need to replace my original fuel injectors. I've read and prepared for the need for a Torx40 and 1/4" extension. I have a helper and wanted to know if you can give me a rough idea how long the job will take? Driver's side looks wide open and after the upper intake is laid aside, the right side should accessible too. Any tips or tricks? Thanks, Jeff.

EGR valve removal is the most time consuming part. Time wise it took me about 4 hours, but i was not in a hurry.
Tips:
1. Stop by your local parts store and pick up a throttle body and upper intake gasket. Both are very cheap.
2. Make sure you get all of the O rings out. Sometimes they can stick in the manifold or fuel rail.
3. Use a little engine oil to lube the new O rings to make assembly a snap.
Suggestions:
1. Replace the fuel pressure regulator and flush the fuel rail before reinstallation.
2. Replace the fuel filter while your at it.

My suggestions would be to put masking tape over the lower intake ports after the upper is removed, then vacuum the dirt and debris off the lower intake, then unbolt and remove the fuel line and injectors. Clean out the injectors pockets with a small wire brush, a dremmel tool works well, and lube the injector o-rings with petrolium jelly to ease installation.

Good suggestions Conan & Joe. Do you know of a good source for the o-rings on the fuel line quick-connects? Would they Ford item only or common auto parts stuff? I figure at 24 years it ought to go back together with new ones. The shop manual says to undo the flare nut on the EGR and leave the EGR bolted to the throttle body and simply lay it over to the side with the upper manifold. Does that sound workable from your experience? I've got my T40 in 1/4 drive and a 12" extension and the quick disconnect tool on hand. Other than common tools and taking pix as I go, can you think of anything special? Thanks plenty to everyone for their input. Jeff

solution found!
My help weaseled out on me so I had to hire the job out. Went to a home based mechanic and he recommended checking the fuel pressure regulator first. Pulled the vacuum line from the regulator and noticed a strong vacuum at idle. No change in the labored, rich idle of the engine, also loss of vacuum made no difference to the regulator's pressure and fuel slowly started to exit the vacuum port. Ruptured diaphragm! Full pressure applied even at low fuel demand as requested by engine vacuum. I brought a new regulator with me to cover all the bases and he replaced it. Instant start and smooth idle was realized immediately. I tried 4 shutdown and restarts in a row with near instant response from the 1st power stroke sustaining the engine.
I was assuming the worse and was ready to do the injectors first and would have replaced the regulator not knowing the real fix. Pays to check the basics.
