P0472 & P2262 after EGR delete

Getting everything running again has been a challenge but it's coming along. Oil leaks are gone, on to the next issue.

P0472 OBD-II Trouble Code: Exhaust Pressure Sensor Low
  • Always on. I wipe the codes and it comes back immediately.
P2262 OBD-II Trouble Code: Turbo Boost Pressure Not Detected - Mechanical
  • Comes on first few minutes of drive. Sluggish, can't go over 40. Then turbo kicks in, full power, and when I clear & rescan, the code is not present.
I'm not sure if it's because of EGR delete, sitting for 5 years, forgetting to hook something up. When I had the turbo off, there was no play in the shaft, everything was clean, both sides spun freely.

Suggestions?

Can you read the exhaust pressure? What does it show with the key on engine off? When started at idle?

For some reason my machine doesn't read much. I have the bluetooth obd thing and a PC and ScanXL Professional, but I can't get any more than obd generic, it lists ford engine, ford airbags, ford transmsision, and obd generic, but obd generic is the only one that successfully connects.

It tells me only basic info, rpm, but no speed/gear info, intake and coolant temps, but that's about it.

Get a good light and a 10X magnifier lens and use it inspect the plug for the EBP sensor.
Seporate the wires so you can get a good look at every inch with extra attention the closer to the plug you get.
The little wires get soft insulation over time and exposure to oil and they rub through and short out. You can
set the tool that you have to watch Vref and that should be 5V with little changes. It's a known chafing point.
The fix is a new pigtail plug assembly or you can take it apart and use some very small heat shrink. But it will make
the plug a very crowded fit. If you do the heat shrink repair and even when you do a pigtail repair it is a good idea
to draw a good diagrams on paper with the pin location and wire color for each one. One wire in the wrong lace can
make life a real headache.

Get the Forscan app. If you have an iPhone your obd2 adapters needs to be WiFi not Bluetooth. It will read the pressures. Could be bad sensor, or carboned up tubing or wiring. Just replaced those things last night.

EBP sensor is unplugged. I noticed that last night, but the plug was dusty, so I figured it'd been like that for a while and didn't think anything of it. So plugging that in should solve which problem?

Plugging it in should solve your problem, the readings from that sensor are used for VGT/Boost control and with it unplugged, the PCM is just making an educated guess about VGT parameters.

Since you don't have any codes for the EGR, you may have a PCM flash that doesn't mind it gone. My truck has a flash like that too.

Plugging it in may not solve anything. Why was it unplugged? Maybe it ran poorly plugged in because it is gummed up or out of spec. So the previous owner just unplugged it

Have owned the truck for an eternity, everything done was done by me. Chances are I unplugged it when I did the EGR delete and had the intake manifold off, but forgot to plug it back in. I did the delete 5 years ago and then it sat for 5 years, so I'm picking up where I left off.

I'll plug it in when I get home tonight and see what happens.

Would that also be the cause of the turbo bark when i let off the gas?

That can really cause the turbo to bark.

Plugged it in and works like a charm. However the codes didn't go away, even after I cleared them. That's ok for now though.

Ordered new sensor and tube. They arrived today and I went to install them. Neither fit. The tube was bent the wrong way and the sensor thread was to big in diameter. Did it change at some point?

Yes it did. The went to a different tube and sensor for the 2005 MY. The 2005 MY tube and sensor mount just under the FICM and degas bottle. Whereas the 2003-2004 sensor mounts on the thermostat. There isn't a way to retrofit It unless you extend the harness.

Well that's inconvenient. I cleaned the tube and sensor as best I could, but I"m still seeing codes. I guess I'll have to order the right one.
