A/C is not cooling much
#16
I'm still baffled on this one as well. Correct, very decent freon line pressures. New orifice. Condenser has high pressure freon cooled down to near ambient. So freon is in liquid state preceding orifice, it being expanded and flashed into a gas after. The dang AC should be cooling well enough to hang meat in the cab.
The only thing that strikes me as not normal is the relatively low temp, 110 def F, on the compressor high pressure line preceding the condenser. That line should be hot enough to make burn your fingers.
Looking forward to reading the conclusion of this story and perhaps learning a little more regarding troubleshooting AC systems.

I Kno since I added the freon in not sure I needed that the high side got hot like you described and I can hang meat in there at times (again blend door).
I asked in another place about the high side getting to 350/375 and they said my high cut off is like 435. That I would be fine and be happy as long as it's cold as hell. This is all in 98 degree weather.
Perhaps our systems require more pressure or the compressor is getting weak to the point it needs a higher pressure to work effectively.
I work in telemetry in industry and I'm shocked we can't get exact pressures via out ecm these days. We should need anything other than a PC to get these pressures.

One of the coldest auto A/C I've ever seen was on a 1997 Ford Expedition... Temp gauge reading coming out of the duct was mid 30's... You could see your breath.
The 06' Ford Super Duty was not as cold but did have it down to the upper 40's to 50's....
The 2016 Ford is warmer yet... It's doing good to get down in the 50's
Maybe in another few years the A/C will be in the 80's on a hot day.
I don't know why auto A/C is not colder in later model years.

Ok I've been fighting mine. I checked everything I could and it said I needed more freon. Added some high side pressures at 350. Low side I got up to 42. Started at 36 and 250. Still didn't seem to fix it.
Until...
I had disconnected my battery and when .I reconnected it it was cold as hell. Down to 42 degrees with outside at 90.
I think it's the blend door actuator. It's as if the power down reset it. Today in traffic it was kinda warm so I cycled the blend **** for 10 seconds each way. When I killed the truck to get gas I restarted it and it was again. Cold as hell. Like it should .
Disconnect your battery for 10 minutes and reconnect and see if your AC works again.
I'm in the process of looking to see which one I need. I think mine being a single zone it's the actuator on top behide the radio

So appears the issue was with a clog in evaporator. Cold air now! After some hot days without much cooling I saw water dripping out for over an hour later. I found that evaporator had a frozen corner to it after an hour of running. (guessing clog was making a new orifice tube of sorts). Just wanted to follow up with results for you guys.
