Need Advice Buying New F150 From Other State
Hi,
I'm in the northeast. I found an new F150 from an OH dealer that fits my build. I spoke to my local dealer about the vehicle. He said he would inquired. When he got back to me, he said the vehicle is sold. Being suspicious, I contacted the dealer in OH directly and they confirmed the vehicle is still available. Can you please give me some advice on what would be the most economical way to bring this vehicle back to the northeast? Should I go to another local dealer or should I buy the vehicle directly from OH and arrange to have the vehicle delivered? If the latter, which transport service do you recommend? Thank you.

If you have to have it, drive down, stay the night, return with it. I'd NEVER buy even a new vehicle unseen and have it delivered. One of dozens I've bought was traded by a dealer, and when it came in, it had a poor repainted B-pillar that stuck out. While I negotiated the price down, I had the position to walk, or they deal. If you don't have to have it tomorrow, order what you want and be happy. The dealer already sounds shady if it was "sold" but now it isn't.

If I understood the OP correctly, it was his local dealer that told him it was sold. That tells me the local dealer is the shady one, not the one with the truck 500 miles away.
If the deal is killer and the truck has all the options you want, 500 miles is nothing. Nice break-in run. I flew to West Palm Beach, FL back in 2006 to buy my RoadKing. I rode it back to Ft. Worth, TX, 1300 miles. Took me 2 days to ride back. Got a killer deal.
Good luck.

I bought an 18 F-150 back in May from a dealer in Kansas (Rusty Eck). Flew up the in the morning, bought it, and drove it home 350 miles. It was fun discovering little things about the truck during the drive.
Some dealerships will title it in your home state and charge you your state tax, but this one did not. It was titled in Kansas, so after receiving the title, I took it to my local tax assessor and paid the Texas taxes and got my plates.
The whole thing went pretty smoothly.

Fly down there, test drive it, make the deal and then have them give you a 30 day temporary registration so you can drive it back. Don't forget to do it on a weekday so you can call your insurance agent and have them fax a copy of your insurance policy so it will be insured when you drive it back. Good luck....
