I see benefits of not having oil and having oil in the intake. All that said, my CCV is still intact the way it came from the factory, but if I am being honest I would say I am exploring my options due to the upcoming T4/SXE install.
A thread about this exact idea came about years ago. Ill try and find it. Someone of Y2 stature had speculated about the "angle" that protruded into the exhaust pipe. Not enough and your blowing out seals. Too much, and it creates vacuum and your oil slicking the roads(pulling your oil out of motor)..

I'll add another mod that really is not effective.

Leveling kits. Makes the truck look better by getting rid of the factory rake when empty, then it drags tail with a load in the bed.

And making the truck look better is a matter of personal taste. I like the factory rake, but that's just me.

Actually it is effective......at raising the center of gravity making an already less than nimble handling vehicle even more dangerous, and it is quite effective at lowering MPG as well. I pondered the idea of a leveling kit for a while, now that my plans are to tow a travel trailer that idea is completely off the table.

You can tow a trailer just fine with a level or lift kit I do it all the time.

Sure you can but for a highway tow vehicle I have no reason to raise my COG as I'm sure you know it will negatively affect stability and MPG.

If you get wider tires, and/or wheels with less offset or wheel spacers your center of gravity will stay the same or be less, I have a 4" lift on mine and it handles better than it did stock because I also have a wider track width.

Once those front wheels get outside the body just a little, your mirrors are useless in foul weather because of "weather fling". Fender flares are needed with a wide stance.

I have 2" spacers so my wheels stick out, but that hasn't been much of a problem for me.

Offsetting the wheel may also shorten bearing life, but do agree this mod can improve COG. A good mod in certain situations like off-roading, it's a compromise in favor of a certain applications.

Your "leveling kit" can be to lower the rear end to match the front. I did that to my F350 and love it.

1. ZooDad
2. Carter Lift Pump
3. GP 1 Oh Something Relay
4. 38R with ported housing (No offense to the vendor, they rock). I think I would have been better off with my modded stocker or it was the ported housing.
5. 6637 Filter (Stupid loud when towing)
6. Bilstein shocks

That was fun trying to remember that far back since I can't remember parts of yesterday. Always fun to check in on FTE 7.3 section.

Somebody should start a thread to see who remembers when people got mad about splitting the 7.3's into 2 sections! Ha ha.

I'm over 50.

I agree.

Am considering adding an EGT gauge somewhere someday, just not going to give up the grab handle to have it.
I made this little gadget for my EGT gauge works well

I'll second the Bilstein shocks......

Made my truck ride way too stiff, especially in the back. I am going to replace them with something not so damn stiff.
