Where To Buy New 351 Windsor Engine

I'm looking for a place to buy a new engine for my van. 1995 E 350 15 passenger van. C-4 transmission.
I also am looking for new transmission for same van.

We have had this van for about 15 years and don't want to replace it.

Short block? Long block? New? Rebuilt? If a mechanic is doing to work and no yourself he may have a source that hes comfortable with. Crate motors from Ford Motorsports is a good source for new. Jasper does reman with warranty but no clue on the quality. I always break mine down and have a machine shop do the block crank and rods and I'll assemble and install.

That should be a E4OD transmission. I'm not sure on reliable vendors for those.

A little background on your vehicle might help get you a little better reply from others.

Thank you for reply.Spaznault.

Hubby is no longer able to do all that work. Son and son in law will come here and help put in motor and trans.

The old van is not worth much but it has a good body, frame rear in, axle's,etc,.

I'm thinking MotorCraft or Ford parts for both.Transmission is C-4 for 351 Windsor.

No C4's after 1981, it would have an E4OD.

C4's were not used with 351W's in E100/350, F150/350 & Bronco, all came w/the C6 thru 1988.

You want to put a NEW engine an transmission in a van "that's not worth very much"?
I just did a quick search of the net and don't see a source for a new, not rebuilt or remanufactured, engine or transmission for your van. You'll probably have to go with rebuilt. It will still be a few thousand dollars for just the engine and transmission and them you factor all the "while your at it" stuff, it will be expensive. Unless the van is in pristine condition or has some sentimental value, you might want to reconsider that.

I bought a reman transmission from my local Ford dealer. I asked if it came from Jasper because I had heard so much bad about them. He said no, they quit using them because of quality problems.

I think your best bet is to find a local machine shop that has a good reputation, and have him rebuild it. I don't think there's a national rebuilder that can be trusted.

I replaced a 351W in my '92 cube van 3-4 years ago, I check out a lot of sites, and ended up ordering it thru Rockauto.

Turns out that the "Famous Brand" they have listed are a sister corp of LKQ, and the reman shop out of Texas. Can't remember the name, and on the road now.

Shipping was I think $225 and that included the shipping slip for return of core. No shipping cost for the return core.
I just had to pick up the crate at the truck terminal (fedex fright) and return the the crate at the terminal to save on "tailgate drop"

Had no real problems, and tech service was great over the phone.

You have a '94+ and will get the better improved engine with the roller cam. I upgraded to the roller cam engine and had a '94 scrap block for the core to do this.
With in 10 days of shipping the core back, I had the $410 refund.

Checking now, and the price is $1,472.99 and $1,300 less that the reman'ed.

This by far would be the best way to go on a budget. Plus, don't forget to use one of the 5% off coupons from Rockauto.

When you get the reman engine, it comes with a high output oil pump, this might cause another problem that I had later, I wouldn't get into details about that now.
But all the gaskets you need will be provided, and the heads are installed to the block, (Long block) saving that problem.

Also, 3 year, 75K mile warranty.

If you check out the transmission replacement thru Rockauto, the current price is $1,335 for the E4OD plus $800 core charge.
This is not bad, I got a reman E4OD thru a local transmission shop reman'ed over the counter and it was $1,460 with the core in hand, and included a new Torque Converter .
Problem I had, was they had installed the wrong Shift Solenoid pack, and had the van for 2 days to swap it out.

I did the R&R myself, and the trans was a full day job, With a transmission jack. The engine was a 4 day project. Just a heads up.

That's what I paid for a reman from my local Ford dealer. I think the core charge was 6 bills, but that doesn't really matter unless you are planning to keep the core.
