I am looking for a full set of skid plates for my XLT non off-road package Ranger 4x4.
I have looked all over the aftermarket until I am blue in the face..nada..search on ebay...nada...whats the deal here? Doesn't anyone add these on to their trucks?
I don't want to get reamed by the dealer and have them say "yeah, it will be $500" or some large amount of dough.
Anybody know where I can score a good deal on new skid plates?
If you want to order them from Ford, I can give you the part #. Then you can just go into the dealer with the part # and he'll get you one. The front plate is $150. The other two are not as expensive.

wxboy..that would be great if I could get that part # from you..
I'll post the part # for the front plate when I get home from work. The other two are very common and so the guy working in the parts dept. should be able to look them up quickly.
Part number on the skid plate for the front is YL5Z-5B018-AA. Dealer list price is around $195 but I haggled with them and used a little "trickery" to get mine for $150 which is closer to dealer cost.
Well when you do can ya post how it went? I am curious as to how easily they went in. The front seems easy. I am just curious if the gas tank is justas easy
when guys do lifts on their rigs they sometimes discard the front plate unlike me. i definately would check the bone-yards or try ebay again, maybe another catagory. maybe get a sheet of sheetmetal and bend it to shape then cut it it to size, drill a couple of holes into the engine cross member and frame, tap them and boom, home made skid-plate.
