Smile EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR 4WD F100

My 1960 4wd F100 needs a new exhaust system. I'm not sure where to start. This is a 223 stock engine 4wd, stock 1V carb. I don't mind keeping it the same, but I am open to suggestions on making this engine breathe better. I could eventually consider a header, and a better intake system, but for now, probably just stock exhaust.

I don't know where to look. Rock Auto has nothing; just exhaust gaskets for my truck. eBay has a whole exhaust system but it won't fit 4wd. Again, any part sources or forum discussions are welcome. Thanx in advance.

Take it to an exhaust shop, they can bend and install the exhaust pipe with whatever muffler you want.

Local muffler shop is your best bet.

See if they can set you up with a stainless setup, or at least aluminized steel.

Thanx. Kinda what I figured, but being a DIY wannabe, I didn't want to get "taken for a ride". I should leave it to the professionals on some things.

Thanx. That's what I'll do. It's pretty loud now, so I'll just wake up the Greatful Dead on the way there.

I did Cliffords Performance on my 223. Carb, intake and header. Was pricey but a great performance upgrade! Then I took my truck to a local shop for a custom dual exhaust. Nicest part of my truck now!

I like the Cliffords Performance items you selected. I had been looking at the very same for performance upgrade. Your pictures answered some of my questions. Very nice truck, BTW! I am SO new to my '60 223, I'm gonna give it some thought. Going thru a hip replacement end of this year (my hip is older than the truck ), so I'm window shopping for now.

Just wanted to say thanx, Matthew. This seems to be the way to go, but pricey. I I could do this. They seem to be the only one doing it for this engine.

I've got one quick question, flhx06, When they boast of a 120% gain in power, do they mean 120% "gain" (more than doubling it), or adding 20% to the original 100%?
It almost seems too good to be true. What do you think, since you actually installed this system?
