I opened the inspection panel and sender port on my gas tank. I looked inside and found the below pictures. Is that just a regular 60+ year old tank or is that in need of refresh/replacement?
If you are keeping the truck stock, don't mess with it, just replace it. If you are building a non stock truck, relocate it to the rear of the truck. There are many aftermarket tanks that will fit. Mine has a Chevrolet C-10 conversion tank (20 Gal) - fit like a glove.
Just my 2cents
hope this helps.

I got our F350 tank chemically cleaned and then repaired by a radiator shop. If you are serious about wanting to keep the old tank that is an option, for us it saved 50% of the cost of a new one. You can check out the link in my signature for my old mans truck if you want the details and pictures.
That isn't worth saving. It is just a tankful of trouble. This is but one of the results you can expect.
You will meed to go through your entire fuel system cleaning and replacing things as you go. Add a fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carb also.
