Any 1995 or older 5.0 / 302 would work. Not sure of the p headsI think they started in 97 on Mustang Explorer these are the GT40 heads If I remember correct (need to google it or try the 5.0 section) they had different bolt patterns for the exhaust manifolds. . The newer 5.0 all your front pulley bracets, timing cover distributor and intake should bolt up only thing is need to make sure the flywheel is a 50 ounce..And match the gear on the distributor, If you use the 28 ounce from your old engine it will have a vibration

Ok & would something like a F250/F350 or Bronco 302 work? If I went 80's-90's 302 would the wiring an everything be fine since all the computer & emission stuff be taken off the other engine? Going to switch it from fuel injection to carb for right now & use my 351W 2 barrel carb on it. Looking to go 4 speed auto with over drive come next year & maybe turbo who knows. Just hope when the rod went through the oil pan it did not fry the trans an rear end. But probably like some people said who ever had it probably towed a camper with it an it was to much for it.

This Ranchero is rough as a cob, bed mouldings/parking lamps missing, cheap repaint and besides the obvious engine problems, I wouldn't spend a cent on it until you verify how much rust it has.

Ford spot welded the Ranchero's bed floor, then used paintable caulk to fill in the gaps. The caulk hardens, chips off, water seeps in and has no place to drain, because...

Underneath the bed pan is the station wagon floor pan that has 2nd seat foot and seat wells, spare tire well. Below the spare tire well is the Ranchero's gas tank.

When this area rusts, it is hidden from view and most people are unaware unless they happen to look underneath and see rust holes.

Its in good shape only rust is a few places on passenger side about silver dollar size & other than that a couple places under the bed nothing major. I already got the park lamps for it. The chrome trim is all there just missing all the screws for it. The 302 & bench seat already found a few just need to get the money to get them. An on the paint that is just a base coat that was put on it by the guy I got it off of. The body is in real good shape besides the rust places I listed. It should not take much to get this on the road. An planning to do trans swap next year to a 4 speed auto with over drive.
