Anyone modified a fiberglass bed cover to raise vertically

I've seen some bed covers that lift vertically, in addition to tilting normally.
I'm wondering if anyone has modified a standard fiberglass tilting bed cover to also lift vertical.
I would want it to be stable enough to drive down the highway in the raised position.

I like my bed cover for hauling my bikes, and camping gear, and most things I haul in my truck... but occasionally end up somewhere buying something too tall to fit under it, even with it tilted open.

Something like this.

There are mechanical lift jacks for camper shells....their purpose is to raise the shell a few feet and then be able to use an in bed tent. you cant drive down the road with the lifts in the up position.
