it nice to finally reap a little reward after so many years. Little by little I was able to keep the project going, far from finished. But I can at least enjoy it now.
For right now, I will leave it as is. But my plan hopefully within two years is to have all the paint and bodywork done. I would like to use that new silver that Ford has been using. I have a good friend that has paint booth and lots of Auto body experience and he said he would help. I would like to try and do as much better myself as I can so that I can learn the process. But I’m also not sure what I should all do. Some people take it down to bar metal, I have to spray it with a sealer of some kind, I’d like to put some kind of bedliner on the bottom of the cab inside the fenders. But I’m not sure what order everything should be done in.
That's the colour I sprayed on the one I'm doing now,Iconic Silver.Plan on spraying the rear fenders today and the underside of the hood and hopefully finish the front fenders and topside of the hood tomorrow. I'll spray the bedliner under the fenders when the weather permits as I'll mask off the painted surfaces and spray the liner outside..
My first Impala was silver and I liked it, didn't seem to show the dirt as quickly as most colours. The one I have now is painted in what is called pepper dust, it's a silver but has a bronze glow depending on the light of day..I'm not the greatest painter, looks good from far but far from good...lol
I got the rear fenders and the underside of the hood done today. Will try and get the rest done tomorrow. Need to get these two put away in the storage tent and bring the other two in the garage then reset things up in the morning..
