Has anyone purchased a K&N Cold Air Intake Kit? I purchased one and was all set for install but had a fairly major problem. The main Intake tube was molded plastic instead of the flexible ducting on the OEM tube. Where this presents a problem was I was able to install the system correctly but not close the hood. The air filter assembly heat shield did not fit in the OEM lower air filter housing. I followed directions even double, triple checked to make sure I wasn't missing anything. The intake tubing has three sections, one from air filter and the other two sections towards throttle body one curving underneath. Instructions and packaging clearly indicate compatible with 2015 + Expedition and Navigator 3.5 E/B?

I returned pending further review but looking for input.

 

Dang! I've been thinking about a CAI but if I do I'm going with S&B. Seen a couple installed on coworkers diesel truck and really like them.

 

I need to research more. The concept of the CAI kit was solid...…..just in this case the tubing wasn't!!!!!

 

And technically the factory set up IS cold air intake. But maybe some gains can be made from a larger filter.
