Hey does anybody know when Ford started using a door jamb type switch for the interior light above the rear window? My 67 works off light switch only, and it would be kind of nice to have it come on when the door opens (and of course off when doors closed) (which brings up a question if you have a door jamb switch, can you still turn it on when doors closed with light switch?). I imagine it's a basic switch, but curious when Ford started doing that.
Turned 4200 miles since May, and enjoying the heck out of it.
The door-actuated dome lamp was standard on the '67 Ranger and optional on the others. Yes you can still turn it off and on with the switch when the door's closed.
Do a search here for the switch and you will come up with a thread on the brackets needed for the switch. The switch you can buy almost anywhere, including NAPA where I got mine.
They're standard on my '67 Ranger. I've uploaded a couple of pics of the brackets.
