diesel 4R100's are a dime a dozen.

Yes, you can.

If the 4R100 is not an early '99 you'll need to make some minor changes. First, the solenoid body is different. Also, there is an orifice that needs to be added to be pump body. Go to TCI Instructions and click on "Instructions" about halfway down the page. On the bottom of page 5 are instructions to convert a PWM to ON/OFF. You need to do that. You don't need to buy the kit, but the instructions are very good.

The 4R110 has two speed sensors on top. Just leave them there to plug the holes. You don't need them, and there is nowhere to plug them in.

The solenoid pack needs to be swapped out to the 94-97 (these are not gas or diesel spec) so getting one is pretty easy. These swap out in just a few mins, located right under the pan.
I'm not sure but you may need to change the shift linkage too.Another pretty easy swap.

Are the E4OD 94-97 diesel (which are 6 studs) the same as the 4r100 diesel (also 6 studs) the same/interchangeable as well?......I'm not sure.I may have known this at one time but if I did,I've forgotten.
With the IDI diesel (89-94 (which are 4 studs) it's easy to remember you need to use the old model 4 stud converters (or have a flexplate drilled /ballanced for 6 studs).

A quick and dirty search shows the converters being sold as the same;
Common Applications: 1996 to 2003 FORD F250 F350 7.3L POWERSTROKE diesel 6 studs triple clutch HD

Specifications:
Diameter : 12.75"
Bolt Circle : 11.425"
Mount : 6 Studs
Spline : 31
Lockup : Yes

A neighbor of mine gave me a diesel E4OD (1994 F450SD) several years ago.

When I had it rebuilt (and the builder obtained a 300/302/351 case to use with my 292 Y-block + Bentsen adapter) he told me that the diesel bell-housing cases were worth quite a bit but the internals were "the same" with certain differences in hard parts........but ALL were interchangeable throughout the different E4OD cases (for example, all the "diesel" internals could be installed in a 302 case etc)

He had no trouble finding a buyer for the "Diesel" case.

He is correct on all counts.
