My new project has just arrived

Hi folks.
After a couple of years without a truck, I am pleased to announce that I am back behind the wheel of a nice '56 F100.
I imported it from a guy in Arizona/
bought it on eBay.
Took three months to arrive by boat, and now it is here.
I was hoping it was going to take a little less work than the previous one, but it seems there are lots of issues with it. Oh well, here we go again.
At least the body looks pretty good.
Here she is just the other day coming off the ship at Matraville NSW

351 Windsor. Not running too well currently.
Biggest disappointment is the massive chops done to the chassis to accommodate a front end of unknown origin.

So much for a quick fix and a cruise downtown. This now means the front end will have to come out, fix up the nasty mess and go from there. Probably a good opportunity to fit my spare Jag front end up.
Apart from that, and significant rust in some body panels, she'll be okay.

It looks real nice sitting on the truck. Sorry about the disappointments. Three months at sea? Hmm, must be downunder somewhere. Sailing at 18 knots is almost 500 nautical miles made good per day (depending on course/wind/currents).

Bluey mentioned off the dock at NSW, that's New South Wales, Australia, for us Yanks. It's under a bit.

Bluey, if you can snap a few pics of your front end, we may be able to identify it better for you, if it matters. It's amazing the crazy things people will do. I hope for your sake that's the worst of it. Congrats on your 'new' truck.

Hang in there, Bluey. I just bought a ‘55 that was hiding a bunch of unexpected mechanical misery of its own. You’re not alone, brother!

Sad thing about any sale site is the way a seller classifies their item. But overall, it looks like a decent truck. Good luck with it.

Later!

thanks for all your great replies, guys.
Overall pretty happy. It's nice and straight with a blue oval engine in it! I got her fired up the other day and she idles rough but idle she does!
I am ripping the front end out and swapping with a Jag front. Been there, done that, but looks to be the best way to go. There's more to come.
I can tell you one thing (that you guys already know) It's great to have a truck back in my life!
More to come
Peter

Got under there the other day.
Bit of a surprise! Along inner cab,

One of the first things I will be buying is a hood tilt kit. Man, this thing nearly took my freakin' head off when the rotten thing dropped on me. This truck hates me already

Three months at sea! That's where all the rust came from Glad to hear your head survived! Sounds like you will save it and keep it alive for many more years to come, good luck with it!

Yeah, not that impressed with it overall. Got a bit sick and tired of the whole old car, old truck scene. Bought a sport's car instead (RX7 series 8) . What the hell? Instant fun and saved many, many thousands of dollars fixing things, changing engines, swapping front ends, and so it goes. All I have to worry about now is being able to afford the petrol
