I'm struggling with a no power situation on my 69 f250. I'm trying to splice in an electronic ignition from a 76. Can any of you wiring gurus help me with the wiring on the back of the ignition switch? The pins, clockwise from 12 o'clock:
Pin 1, has two wires,Orange ( resistance ) and Red/yellow.
Pin 2, Red/blue.
Pin 3, Two wires, Light purple and black/green.
Pin 4, Dark purple.
Pin 5, Yellow.
Pin 6, empty.
I know that:
Pin 1, orange to coil +
Pin 2, Red/blue, to I on the starter relay and to the white lead on my duraspark ignition module.
Where do the rest of the wires go? Which wire is run, which is start and which is accessory?
When I did it on my 72 I never messed with anything under the dash. There was a hot lead in the harness under the hood that I used to power up the brainbox and I ran another one from the solenoid to the brainbox for the start mode but I have seen some guys just run those two together. Also don't forget to run one from the solenoid to the coil posative for full voltage when cranking. The pos wire from the switch to the coil is a resistance wire and you will have cold start problems if it is all you use to power the coil.
I just did mine in a 70 the only 2 wires that went back into the cab were the
White(start only) to red+blue at ignition
Red (12v source) to red+green and large pink at ignition
Then the rest of the complete harness patched into existing 3wire harness.
water temp Red+white tracer to same on original harness out off center of firewall.
oil pressure Yellow+red tracer to same on original harness out of center of firewall.
(coil+)Red +yellow tracer to redyellow tracer to same on original harness out of center of firewall.
(coil-) Green+white stripe back to dura box
then all other wires go to dist in harness plug(orange purple and black)
Hey I suck at wiring so if this make sense let me know!

Just pay attention to the way the colors come through the connectors. I fought mine all afternoon only to discover the wires changed color/positions as they passed through the connector to the dist.
I double checked all my wires from begining to end just to make sure they were right because I have never used or paid attention to the duraspark setup. But yes that could be the culprit of a very large headache!LOL
