If it is that same circuit in the diagram above, you could be reading through the turnflasher. If you can find the flasher, I would pull it. My 89 has the turn flasher under the dash in the steering wheel area, and the hazard flasher is over on top of the kickpanel on the pass side right at the glovebox. You would need to pull the turn flasher.

Great thank you. I'll pull that and try again. I'm going on vacation and I won't be able to touch this for a week or so. But what is the "multi-function switch". Is that the headlight switch?
That's your horn and cruise switches. They plug into a brush and slide setup there in the middle of the steering wheel so the electrical signals can get to the horn and the cruise without the wires twisting up. The turnsignal switch is underneath the steering wheel.

So I guess I need a puller to remove that. Does all that wiring look right? It sparked when putting the pad back on.
Don't stop now. That top plastic piece is the cancel cam. The turnsignal switch with all the wires is underneath that. If you unplug the connector down at the base of the column, you can pull all the wires and the switch up out of there and inspect it. I wonder what all those plastic shavings are about?

I did stop but it only takes a minute to get to that point. I don't get much time as it's my sons daily driver. But look at the circle isn't that a short? I covered the wire and po used it further down so it doesn't hit anymore. As far as the shavings go it looks like this stuff is fairly new and it was wearing on the back of the steering wheel. I wonder if it was replaced at.one point.
If that bare spot was touching something metal on the back of the steering wheel, yes that can blow fuses. Sounds like you figured out what was rubbing, and now it's stopped correct? I guess it's a wait and see game now to see if the fuse blows again.

that's exactly what it was doing. Touching metal on the back of the wheel. No longer touching as far as I know. I'll check it this weekend. Hope this does it
