Barn find, what’s it worth?

I have been driving by this Bronco for years and they never touched it. They put it up for sale and I jumped on it. I will pick it up Saturday. It has rust, and the fenders have been cut, the worse rust is on the top and drivers side rocker is gone. I am going to pay 4,500 for it, hope it doesn’t become a money pit. The motor seems locked. It’s a 73 auto with 302. Might be to much money , but I love it

my friend pretty well defined ur Q 4 me one time:
"a deal is one that works for both parties, never for one or the other only…"
otherwise a sale would never happen.

It's not an inexpensive endevor but U have the D44 w/J handeled shift, PS & AT as add-ons.
Step 1 is to do as much research as possible, understand what ur 'application' is and decide on how to meet that. Make a good plan that does not change during the work (seen too many hack jobs that strt 1 way, change in the middle & turn out bad in terms of $ & X) and carry it out to the end. That's what the 1st step or 2 is bout. W/a bronk this is more important due to bein a multi-purpose vehicle.
Good luk and keep in touch. Lotta resources & great guys here...

Apparently it's worth $4,500!

As chrlsful stated you've got a good basis for Bronco project there. Dana 44 and C4, I think the 73 has a little stronger 9" housing as well. They are all money pits... But they can be a lot of fun too!

Apparently it's worth…
only when sombody pays THAT.
Example:

Seattle | 1969 Ford Bronco | Classic Ford Broncos

They claim somebody paid $189K fer dis 1.

C the ol painter's deffinition of a deal above. Will you pay $4.5K? Somebody less? You more? Doesn't matter (2 me) what's paid, it the final deal I'm interested in…

Mine wuz $500 w/a $500 plow kit. (C 'avetar' still has same plow frame in pic used rarely 2day). When I offered $300 he yelled and screamed "It'll go 2 da chrusher B4 I sell 2 U 4 dat price!!!" This wuz 1983, I wuz 31 y/o. He kinda scared me. I've put over $10K in it but it aint what it used ta B ("all new everything" + mods), owes me nuttin (made me more than that on jobs over the last 34 yrs) so do what's right 4 U! Whatever YOU want and :
H A V E F U N !!!

Only with the recent run up in prices am I break even on mine and that is if I DO NOT count the hundreds upon hundreds of hours into it.
If prices go back to what they were only 6 or 7 years ago, I'd be really take a hit.
It is a labor of love, and you will have a very unique vehicle that isn't seen all that much anymore.

Try to get the key for those wheel locks while you are dealing w/ the current owner.

grill garnish

I like that strip of alu that runs around the outside of the grill.
I hadda take 1 offa a rust bucket I had to get it on the 1 in the
avetar. It's a nice addition.

I wonder if the chromers (platers?) can select a specific area of a larger hunka metal and chrome that more limited target. I'd do that to the bronk if I ever had the frnt sheet metal off (just the 'grill' - white on most models).

you don't buy these vehicles to make money, you do it for the love of the vehicle.
