Thanks for the comments, Gents!
Yeah, the local tax rates and registration costs vary greatly. Our NC vehicle Road Use Tax (aka sales tax) is 3%, but the registration fee is declared GVWR weight-based, and we’ll get state tag renewal- and county personal property tax bills every year.
On the good news side, the PPT is based on cost/residual value of the base truck; the cost/value of the upgrades and options aren’t taxed.
My recollection is that NH and TX have no income taxes? But, my sister-in-law outside of Austin pays hefty real estate taxes, IIRC.
Good to be back on line, BTW. A local lightning strike Thursday evening knocked out out neighborhood cable and internet service for ~27 hours.
Regards,
Jim / crewzer

The new truck’s official payload label reads 3912 lbs, The old truck was 3968 lbs, IIRC, so we took a little hit due to extra options. I do plan to visit our local CAT scale soon. And, both trucks’ GVWRs and payload specs are limited due to small A/S tires’ load rating.

I think I'm right behind some of you guys... hope to get my window sticker soon - windowsticker.forddirect.com still shows it hasn't been released yet - but the estimated ETA is October 6th. When I ordered my F150, my sales guy sent someone to the railway station to pick up the truck and drive it back instead of waiting for a semi to haul it to the dealer so I have it a few days sooner... He may have to do that again, as I have a camp spot reserved for october 19... and I wanna put some miles on the thing before I tow with it.
