[1986 E-150 5.0 V8] Weird Engine Sputter
So, I have a 1986 Ford Econoline. I love her very much. Her name is Big Momma.
Big Momma has a problem (well she has lots of problems, but let's address one specifically), and has since I bought her. Neither I nor my mechanic seem able to chase the problem down.
When she starts cold, she will usually run very rough for a moment, die, then turn over and start right back up and run just fine.
I've replaced the alternator, idle arm control valve, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the whole exhaust system (Magnaflow makes my baby purr) and still can't seem to track down what's causing this issue.
My next guess would be transmission problems? IANAM but I was raised around cars so I have somewhat of a working knowledge.
Thank you in advance for anyone able to help, it's the last major issue that's been bugging me on this reno project.

Can't see how the transmission could cause this problem.
I would replace the ECT (Electronic Coolant Temp) sensor and check and clean all of the grounds. It might be that the sensor is giving a false reading until it has been on for a few minutes. Also, a bad ground can feed back through a sensor and cause all kinds of havoc.
