As far as I understand, yes, truck will not remote start without the jumper wire. I think you can first remove the module and plug the jumper wire in. See if it works.
Update: their mechanic pulled the module back out, installed the jumper, and it works perfectly. Man, you can hear that V10 purr a mile away! Thanks to all!
It comes inside the box and plugs into the side of the module. Once you have the part, it will be self explanatory and the enclosed instructions show you as well.
Has anyone had a Ford dealer install JS7Z-19A361-A and enable it? If so, how much did you have to pay? My dealer in LA Ca. wants 2.5 hours 525.00(Parts & Labor). It seems he wants me to pay to train his staff.
Just had a face to face with the Service Manager and told him his price was too much. He agreed to do the install and computer settings for 1 hour labor.
Picked the truck up tonight, total cost was $342.00 parts, install, and tax. Truck now has an option to set Run Time when Auto Started.
All in all money well spent.
Thanks again for all the research.
is there any benefit to enabling the parking lights with remote start? also enabled the climate control, but doesn't really seem like its doing anything. truck is a 2018 xl, on dash settings had it set to at last key off. maybe i just need to play around with it some more?
I'm not sure. Mine was programmed by Ford dealer who installed it. My parking lights come on and climate comes on(I think it cools/heats to around 75, not sure on the specifics)
