transfer case/ transmission wiring.can anyone help me identify these wires?

transfer case/ transmission wiring.can anyone help me identify these wires?



2 of the 3 have no insulation on them and both are touching the housing and grounded out

What year is your Explorer and what color are the wires? Automatic or manual transmission? Is that view looking north at the south end of the transfer case? I have wiring diagrams for a '98 and shop manuals for one or two other (earlier) years. I can try to match the wire colors with the diagrams.

More than likely your HAL sensor. Mine has done this. I'm not sure why these wires have a bind on them and seem to want to pull out of the sensor. Those sensor are hard to find and not cheap.
