Question '84 F-250 Carb Spacer Plate issue

1984 F-250 351 2bbl with 94k,

While doing a tune-up it was suggested to go through the carb, now there seems to be an issue with
the spacer plate not fitting correctly. Ford Part # E4TE-9A589-FA

Anyone run into this issue ? The shop keeps saying it has to be modified for the electronics ?

Thanks for any insight

Why are you not using the original carb with the original spacer? With the original intake manifold on the original engine, it all should fit like it did originally correct? Something is missing in your story I believe.

Thanks for the reply

To the best of my knowledge it's all OEM this is based on the son in law of the estate, the P/O was a Ford guy @ a Texas Dealer
The boy's @ the shop gave me the number off the plate, it's cracked next to one of the bolt holes it's like a poly type material
and without a seal it mis-fires

This was the part # I actually took off the OEM spacer plate as they are having an issue finding one, seems the aftermarket ones are causing the issue with electronic do hicky

It would be nice to see a picture or 2 of the issue the shop is having so we can give our advice.

Now being Bill listed the part number might try Ebay but being they are no longer you may have to go with the after market one and mod it as needed to work.

I looked on ebay, no one has any, no Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any either.

Is this it?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-86-FOR...cAAOSw5Oxa6Ol0

Looks like it has a mount for the EGR on the back, and some hose connections on the front.

Your truck is totally original, everything is hooked up and working, and it has to pass underhood inspections where you live?

I'm calling down there this AM and see if there is any progress, and then snap a couple of pictures depending on what they say.

Thanks for your input

There was not any issues with the carb itself, just really gummed up and such looked like it had not been ever touched.
almost wondering if the crack on the poly spacer occurred when the rebuilt carb was installed, sadly we know that dog won't hunt.

Nope, it's a poly type material and it's about an inch thick nothing hanging off of it.

Oh yeah we have the emissions deal, one of the reasons I considered this unit was it has current plates until 12/18 and this is why I took the
opportunity to tune it up so it would pass again. it seemed to run pretty well but it had champion plugs and the plug wires were very dry rotted.
here in AZ anything above a 1/2 truck has to go through the sniffer every year as the 1/2 ton's you can do it for two years.
