Getting stuff ready to roll this morning. There's just a few things left in the house and to fill the water tank. Wife doesn't do well switching water sources while traveling so we take our own.

Dave. Same here. We hook up to the campsite water for showers and doing the dishes and what-not, but bring a 5 gallon jug for coffee, cooking and drinking. That's usually all we need for the weekend.

Apparently I worried over nothing. Truck is running fine topping out at 210 ish on a grade and backing down to 200 when everything levels out. It'll even cool down in stop & go traffic.

It really liked running 55-60..,

SSDD there, other than he mentioned some surgery to go in and cut the nerves that are going down my legs to relieve pain. Dosen't sound like anything that I want to do, and as long as I can deal with it, I'm gonna pass.
I did snag an engine stand from Oreilly's that rated for #1000, and I think they may have over rated that number. By the way it's sagging, I'm thinking maybe #750 is a better number. But once I get the intake and everything in front of the timing cover removed, it'll set better.
Hope yall are doing well.

Unk Bob
Uncle Bob, if you are not going to use that A/C compressor, I will buy it from you. when i put the 460 in my truck, it was like yours, Saginaw and low mount Alternator. Had to move alternator up and do away with the A/C compressor( it hit the steering box.) When and if I get it back together I want to put A/C back in.
Rich I think the low boy frames you had to move alternator up and the high boys you did not as far as I know. But I never put a 460 in a high boy.
Like Alan said the front sump oil pan will work but it is close but doesn't hit.

That may be the difference, Moose. EQ is a highboy. My alternator has all kinds of room, but it's sitting in a highboy frame. I never thought of that. Maybe the front crossmember is different enough that it won't clear on the newer trucks.

I am not sure on a HB frame/eng crossmember clearance. And for the record, yes you can run a front sump oil pan on a 460 put in a 4wd F250. Not sure on the F150. And yes you can hit the pan with the front axle pumpkin if you put worn out HB springs on it. Wanna see the dent in ol blues pan? Just another PO hack job, followed by FRONT blocks. Dumbness in the front to match the stacked blocks the back....

ProjectBronco.COM! A 78-79 Ford Bronco Resource Center technical link info.
Oil Pans -- Unless you have a 2" or higher suspension lift on your Bronco, you will probably need to use a rear sump oil pan in order to fit a 429/460 in your Bronco. Some people have been able to use the front-sump pan on stock-height Broncos, but the general consensus is that the rear-sump pans are not only a better fit, but will be needed to keep the oil in the pan when driving up steep hills, so try to avoid front-sump pans if possible. Front-sump pans work fine in a passenger cars but are not adequate to keep the oil where it's supposed to be in a 4x4. The E-Series vans, F-Series pickup, and some Lincolns already have rear-sump oil pans, but some Lincolns and some of the Ford and Mercury cars used front-sump pans. If your engine has a front-sump pan, then you can either try to find a rear-sump pan in a salvage yard or you can buy one from L&L products.

Good Morning Everybody!

I just got back from the post office. I should have my new passport in a 3 weeks. $132!!!! I sure liked it better when the government paid for it. Tiff's will be about $300! She's never had one before. Yikes!

Anyway, I better get out and get this big black truck in the driveway to run right. We have to leave in the AM on Friday to set up the display.

That's fine, I'm not using any of the A/C stuff.
