Dual Battery Setup

I am looking into putting a second battery in the truck (2003 F250SD, SC, V10). There are a few aftermarket kits available and just wondered if anyone else has done this. Couple of questions:

*Where is the vapor canister relocated to?
*Can the factory battery tray used with the 7.3 diesel be used?

Thanks for any help.

I would suggest using an e series battery box and mounting the battery under the cab instead. There is a guy here that used one to add a 3rd battery to his six liter and it worked very well I think it’s a better option than what your thinking currently and the eseries battery box can be had pretty cheap.I’ll post a link to his thread if I can find it. Well that was easier than I thought. Here’s the link.

Mike189677,

Thanks for the info and the link - LOTS of very good information and ideas and links to other related threads. I like the convenience of having the second battery under the hood but the position of the air intake/filter assembly and fuel vapor canister takes up most of the space on the driver's side, making the frame mount simpler.

I've been watching the E series battery boxes on ebay, off and on. Prices seem high most of the time.
There's a gentleman on the Expedition Forums that is/was working on an add on battery box design.
Last I saw, he had installed it and took it for a test trip. I haven't seen a follow up yet.
