Latch needed for hood tilt?!

im using the cpp hood tilt kit on my 54, I haven’t perfectly set the gaps yet as I need to repaint the hood but I have a new issue. I was driving last weekend and when I got to around 80 mph going downhill the hood popped up! Luckily it’s a front tilt so it didn’t flip over the windshield, I didn’t slam on the brakes to prevent it from flipping forward either..

do you guys use a hood latch with the hood tilt or was this just an abnormality? Possibly going way too fast down a large hill??

Yes you still need to use the original hood latch .
But the secondary latch could be removed if need be .
