Was up guys looking for some feed back. So my truck 92 f150 flareside single cab 5.0 with e4od. When the truck get up to temp every time I stop it will feel like I get hit from the back the truck shifts good but just that issue when I come to a stop. Am guessing the torque converter now I have a spare out off my 93 f350 with 460 and e4od. Any info would be appreciated thanks 🤘🍻
Have you checked for DTC codes? If not that is the first thing to do, then repair as necessary... The E4OD is completely computer controlled, any codes set will put the E4OD into limp mode, and I'm pretty sure that is why it's acting up....
There was a tsb way back when about the slip yoke in the driveshaft binding and releasing on the trucks.
Most people experienced it the same way you described.
Try lubing up the drive shaft and see if it disappears for a while.
Supposedly, Ford started using a special coated yoke (nickel??) to help reduce the binding, but I have never found one for sale. >>>SEE THIS<<<
Here is a problem that an transmission trade association publication writes about:
Another common complaint of the 1356 is that it will sometimes exhibit a driveline thump or clunk on take off. Many shops have spent considerable time balancing drive shafts, replacing u-joints, mounts, etc. without success. The problem lies inside the transfer case itself. A careful examination of the rear output shaft will reveal excessive end play between the shaft and the rear bearing, and between the rear bearing and the extension housing. You should use shims to take up the endplay between the output shaft and the rear bearing retaining snap ring (figure 7). You can use Chrysler part #00015128 for a shim kit that will enable you to take up the endplay between the bearing and the output shaft snap ring.
Thanks for the info one thing that I forgot to mention is that I check the oil just by pulling the tranny dipstick and I notice metal shavings. So I haven't been driving the truck for that reason

I would drain and catch the fluid so you could get a better idea of what's in the pan. Pour it through a few coffee filters to see what's in there.
