1950 T98 Swap Question
#17
I think i saved the one off the t98 that I sent to Tom aka (pineconeford) as he didn't need one for his truck.
Greg however has a hydraulic dump box on your truck if I remember correctly? Glad you got the trans finally, that was quite slow shipping. Keep us posted on your progress as well.
Mark, did you have to remove the spur gear and replace with one to mesh with the t98 gears? Sounds like alot of work.
Cheers

So not modding the cross member and shorting the drive shaft, does this cause issues with drive line angle?
Mid ship bearing?
U joints?
I finally took my T98 off the pallet and have started with putty knife cleaning away 68 years of "stuff" and measuring here and there, mine came out of a 50 F6,its going into a 51 M3(F3).
As above, the T98 is taller, longer ,and the u joint is huge from the F6. the top cover (shifter ) is longer as well.
I think I mite cut cross member about 6-8" in from frame rails and weld 1/4" or so plates to all four pcs and bolt them all back together as a ajustable C.M.? just thinkin...
I would really like to change rear axle gear ratio to something like 3:00 to 1, with the 6: to 1 of 1st gear , truck would still have plenty of grunt in 1st.

The taller t98 raised the drive line up a bit, but not that much. The clutch linkage still all connected and works.
Once I took the parking brake stuff off of the t98, I was able to find a u joint flange to fit.
The top cover does not fit without modifying the crossmember to lower the trans down a bit, but I just bent the metal... I do not have a perfect truck, so this worked just fine for my purposes.
