Hot shotting is the kind of driving that keeps these engines young. Lots of highway and working hard.

cops are figuring it out...Last I heard their using Infrared Temperature guns and pointing them at the DPF.Gutted ones are reading the same temp as the whole exhaust.

I'm in the greater northeast coast , I have buddies that are LEO and all have deleted trucks , There has to be some loop holes , trucks over 10yrs or have been repowered .
I know with UPS , Fedex and other companies out there sell and buy rolling trucks with no powertrain and the loop hole is they put a older rebuilt motors and don't have to abide by the emissions regulations .

I am a local cop and we don't write for that here. I'd say probably the whole department of street cops wouldn't know what to look for or give a **** for that matter. It doesn't bother me. I only have 26k on my 16. I worry about the state guys or DEC guys who have a b**er for deleted trucks. It's just the way of the future. I just don't think someone is NOT getting wrote up for it SOMEWHERE in the country. I just wouldn't want any hassles when I go out of state.

New York State has goofy rules. DMV follows the CARB laws. I believe that the engine going into the chassis has to be the same year or later. So I couldn't drop a 1st gen 12 valve into my old 96 F350 for example. I thought I remember hearing someone from NY winning a Diesel Brothers build and couldn't take the truck because of our stupid laws.
